From daytime activities including cognitive stimulation, community engagement and general skills maintenance, through a range of restorative care, rehabilitation, home care and specialist support services, at Peggy’s we can help you wherever you may be on both yours and your loved-one’s journey.
If you’re unsure whether we can help, then get in touch. We’re sure we can provide help and advice to all different needs and situations.
A member of our specialist team will be more than happy to help.
Keeping Busy at Peggy’s Day Service provides a day of activity and occupation for a person living with dementia, or loneliness. Babs is day care facilitator and can be contacted on 01724 808108 for more information.
Our aim is to maintain ability, recognise which GEM state a person is in and use the ability they have. This may include activities such as baking, gardening, community events, cognitive games, and most of all fun. The benefit for family carers is that they also get a break, and see a person fulfilling their potential with regular feedback.
A day may be spent with a maximum of 8 others (pre Covid 19 pandemic) who will be a similar level of ability. Usually a hot lunch, unless a trip out is planned or a picnic at the park or in the garden.
Peggy’s home care is registered with CQC and provides personal care and support for people living in their own homes. All support staff at Peggy’s are trained to the same standard to allow flexible support for individuals to maintain relationships in whatever part of the service they may be using, eg, home care and day care, day care and respite care.
Cathy, Registered Manager or Julie, Team Leader and another will visit you usually at home to assess to be sure that we are the right service for what you may need. Following this assessment any information required will be obtained before the support service can commence.
We do not provide 15 minute care calls unless there is a need, such as a quick pop in medication prompt. We value the relationships and emotional support people need and look forward to supporting a person and their family to provide meaningful engagement to improve quality of life and to enable a person to be the best they can be and to recognise their GEM state and ability that remains.
Please contact Cathy or Julie to discuss your needs.
Peggy’s Accommodation consists of 5 bedrooms only (double, twin and single). We have available respite and short breaks for couples or individuals to provide a supported break.
A person staying with us may use our day care or other activities such as the Magic Table, outings, Peggy’s Place. There is a lift for those who struggle with stairs. Each room is en-suite and an additional wet room is available if required. Our building is designed to be dementia friendly and to help our GEMS orientate themselves and remain as independent as possible with the skill level they retain.
If you feel that this may be of benefit to you and your family please contact Cathy Gibbs, Registered Manager to discuss on 01724 808108. Any answerphone messages left are relayed to senior staff via e-mail to re-assure you that the message is received.
Due to COVID -19 our office may not be open fully as yet although we are trying our best to re-open as soon as possible.
Restorative Care – “Together” breaks
We are keen to maintain relationships for families and are able to offer supported breaks for couples where one person may require additional support, and the other may remain independent but need emotional support. From our experience, sometimes, a person with dementia may not wish to go into respite care by themselves and this is a unique opportunity to be flexible to meet two people’s needs as a compromise to sustain the caring role.
Our aim is to offer a home from home experience and keep people as independent as possible, improving quality of life and emotional well being where possible.
Please contact us for more information.
